The Odyssey dominated the box office this past weekend, delivering Christopher Nolan’s biggest opening weekend to date. More than 70% of moviegoers in both the US and UK chose to see the movie, helping drive a significant increase in overall cinema attendance compared with the previous week, up 33% in the US and an impressive 80% in the UK.

The audience for this epic was predominantly male, with men accounting for 64% of attendees in the US and 69% in the UK. Despite being based on a story thousands of years old, the movie attracted a remarkably balanced age profile. Moviegoers aged 25-44 made up around 40% of the audience, while those aged 12-24 and 45-64 each represented on average 25%, with slight variations between markets.
